Cdfos |Christ died for our sins
We train, we love and we share God’s Word. The preparations for the last prison ministry for the 2008 calendar was drawing to a close. The prison had been in lock down because of a prisoner attacking and beating a staff member. We prayed and put our hopes and the mission into God’s hands and waited. Just a few days before the weekend we get word that the warden was going to permit us to go in.
Today was the 90th day since that weekend, we were allowed to go back in again. Many things have happened between the time we had our loved and ministered. When we arrived there was a sense of loss, only two graduates were there and one leader. It looked bad! We found out that our main contact inside was in the hole, not because of punishment, no it was because the prison does not have a hospital. What happened was that our leader was trying to direct some guards to help an inmate that had been beaten and in doing so he was labeled as a snitch and was beaten so bad that he needed to have his face wired back together. We pray for our brother and know that God will take care of him, that his reward is in heaven for his actions of compassion. We heard that he will most likely be moved to another facility for his protection.
God speed and blessings on him.
The men started to show up, one then two and then more. The men had been waiting for us and were so happy to see us, they sang with joy for Jesus that we were faithful to come and visit them. They did not dwell on their fallen brother, it is politics and he will be missed but the work of Jesus in these lives and the others that are in this facility are the mission. Each man spoke of great things happening because of the three day weekend those 90 days ago. Each man spoke of the love of Christ being real and being their rock that they are standing on. Each man spoke of the love for Christ that is now in their walk in this prison. As we talked in the prayer and share meeting, we heard of God’s presence in the lives that just a few months ago were lost. We heard how there is hope and purpose in lives that otherwise seemed wasted. We heard of men that were taking the call to be about their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s work, inside and outside the walls of this prison.
To sit and share with the lost... and to see that they are on fire for the Lord! Reaching out to family, to friends, to witness that their is hope in the lives of the unsaved out in the world!
Is that not where we are living? How dark is the world you live in?
I went to prison today and learned that men love me...and they have purpose by abiding in Christ and staying connected to the Vine, to bear fruit because He loved us first!
Our brothers are alive in Him!
Praise be to God for His mercies and blessing!
They will know we are Christians by our love by our love, They will know we are Christians by our love.
Matthew 25:31-46
